Our legal team is focused on getting results for injured clients. We take an aggressive approach so that we leave no stone unturned in your case. We are proud to offer a full-service law firm based on the most important evidence of our success: satisfied clients.
Most motorcycle accident victims are facing new challenges as they struggle to recover from serious physical injuries. The last thing you need is lengthy negotiations with insurance companies and defense lawyers. Unfortunately, the legal tactics these organizations use to avoid paying compensation leaves many accident victims with less than they deserve.
Our Queens motorcycle injury attorneys are committed to adding value in the form of financial results. We will:
- Conduct a full investigation into the motorcycle accident to determine the cause
- Work with accident reconstruction experts
- Work with medical and financial experts to create an insurance demand that fully accounts for your injuries
- Take care of the paperwork and procedural requirements for filing your claim
- Negotiate with the insurance company and defense lawyers on your behalf
- Stand ready to advocate fiercely to protect your rights in court if the insurance company fails to offer a fair settlement
At Michael J. Redenburg, Esq., P.C., we have experience handling motorcycle accident cases. This specific experience is important, because motorcycle injury cases are more complex—and involve more serious injuries—than your typical personal injury case. The challenges are also different from those faced by most traditional motor vehicle accident victims.
The insurance company usually puts up a fight when serious injuries are involved. Having a trusted lawyer by your side can improve the odds that you’ll get fair compensation for your injuries.
New York Motorcycle Accident Statistics
The fatality rate for motorcycle accidents in NYC is almost twice the fatality rate outside the city, at 89 fatalities per every 100,000 motorcyclists. In June 2020, there were 273 motorcycle accidents in NYC.
These crashes occurred in all five boroughs, with 83 in Brooklyn, 68 in Queens, 60 in Manhattan and 50 in the Bronx. Staten Island had the fewest number of motorcycle accidents that month, with only 12 reported in the borough.
Leading Causes of Motorcycle Accidents
Contrary to popular belief, most Queens motorcycle crashes aren’t caused by the person on the motorcycle. Motorcyclists, no matter how cautious they are, are simply more difficult for other drivers to see.
Some of the leading causes of Queens motorcycle accidents include:
- Distracted driving
- Unsafe lane changes
- Speeding and driver aggression
- Drunk or drugged driving
- Traffic violations
- Unsafe turns
- Left turn accidents
- Road hazards
- Tailgating
- Vehicle defects
The cause of your accident is important. It provides the basis for holding someone else financially accountable for your injuries. For many accident victims, insurance alone will not compensate for the full extent of your losses.
At Michael J. Redenburg, Esq. P.C., our motorcycle accident attorney has the experience and resources to identify the cause of your accident and find out who can be held financially responsible.
Motorcycle Accident Injuries Are Often Life-Changing
Even at relatively low speeds, motorcycle accident victims are unlikely to walk away from an accident unharmed. Motorcycles simply do not provide the type of physical protection offered by a traditional motor vehicle in a car accident.
Motorcycle accidents can cause:
- Spinal cord damage
- Brain injuries
- Other head injuries
- Amputations
- Paralysis
- Fractured bones
- Burns and “road rash”
- Head and neck injuries
- Soft tissue injuries
- Degloving
- Chest injuries
- Catastrophic injuries
- Fatalities
If you were injured in a motorcycle accident, your focus should be on getting the medical treatment you need. Our injury lawyers are prepared to fight for the fair compensation you need.
Riders are often unfairly accused of causing motorcycle crashes. In reality, we know that motorcycle safety is a key priority for most riders. At Michael J. Redenburg, Esq. P.C., our legal team will stand by your side and advocate to protect your rights every step of the way.
What if the Other Driver Blames Me for the Accident?
You don’t lose your right to recover financial compensation just because the other driver tries to blame you for the accident. This is true even if you were partly to blame for the accident or the seriousness of your injury. New York contributory negligence laws provide a system for dividing financial liability even when more than one person caused the accident.
The NYC contributory negligence rule reduces your damages award in proportion to your own fault. In a case where you are given a $100,000 damages award but found to be 30% responsible:
- Your damages award will be reduced to $70,000 (by 30%), and
- You might be responsible for 30% of another injured party’s damages
Contributory negligence in motorcycle crash cases might come into play if you weren’t wearing a helmet. The other party can argue that your injuries were worse than they might have been with a helmet.
Trying to shift the blame to the accident victim is a common strategy for defense lawyers and insurance companies. At Michael J. Redenburg, Esq., P.C., we know how to protect you from these and other defense tactics. Call us today to learn more about how we can work to prevent blame-shifting from reducing your available compensation.
Who is Financially Responsible for Motorcycle Accident Injuries?
Most commonly, motorcycle accidents are caused by some type of driver error. The at-fault driver can be held financially responsible. However, we all know that NYC roads are complicated places. Additional parties that might be financially liable include:
- The NYC transportation authorities
- Bus drivers
- Truck drivers
- A property owner who has obstructed the road
- The manufacturer of a defective vehicle component
- A government agency
In almost every case, an insurance company will pay your actual damages award. Fighting with the insurance company is a burden you should not have to deal with during your recovery. Our lawyers don’t back down when facing off against large corporations and entities.
Available Damages for Motorcycle Crash Victims
Serious financial stress is common for motorcycle accident victims. If you were seriously hurt or lost a loved one in an accident in Elmhurst Queens or anywhere throughout NYC, you might be struggling to even pay your bills.
We have the skills you need to make sure you don’t just get some compensation. We fight to make sure your compensation award is fair and protects you into the future. That’s why we work with medical and financial experts who can help estimate how much your injuries are likely to cost in the years to come.
We fight to win compensation to cover your economic and non-economic damages such as:
- All current and future medical bills, including emergency room and hospital bills
- Any costs related to treating your injury, including in-home care, medical devices and physical therapy
- Your lost income and lost wages
- Loss of future income capacity
- Loss of enjoyment of life
- Pain and suffering
- Emotional distress
- Permanent disfigurement and scarring
Once you accept a settlement offer, you can’t go back and sue for more. That makes your lawyer’s role particularly important.
You should never accept the insurance company’s settlement offer without first talking with an experienced Queens motorcycle accident lawyer. As well-meaning as the insurance adjuster might seem, their job is to protect the insurance company. Your lawyer’s job is to protect you.
At Michael J. Redenburg, Esq., P.C., we take this responsibility seriously. Our firm was built on the satisfaction of our clients. We have already helped recover millions for accident victims, so call our injury lawyers today to discuss your right to compensation in greater detail.
NYC Statute of Limitations: Time is Limited to File a Claim for Compensation
New York only gives you three years to file a personal injury claim for your motorcycle accident injuries. Even if an exception applies, it is important for your lawyer to get to work as quickly as possible after the crash.
One important aspect of finding the cause of your accident is evaluating the scene of the accident. We can get the most valuable evidence in the days—and even hours—following the accident. The police report can provide valuable insight, but first-hand observations can be key.

Five Star Google Review
Literally one of the best in the business. Would not want anyone else to handle situations of the law if it isn’t Mr. Redenburg. I can say and been a witness of Mr. Redenburg’s work to the point where he basically schooled the judge about how a certain law works. The judge learned something new, literally the judge thanked Mr. Redenburg for teaching him something for the future.
